Japan Earthquake/Tsunami

A few hours ago Japan was in the center of an 8.9 earthquake which triggered a tsunami with waves of over 20ft. tall. The waves are traveling out towards the US affecting Hawaii, Alaska, and various locations on the west coast just to name a few. The waves however are much lower by the time they reach the US, but affects are now being felt and the water will rise. Authorities are already in prep for possible events so if you're in one of the areas in the west or know someone who is, don't panic. Stay awake, stay alert, stay informed.
I'm listing links below with more information. (Please note that with the current heavy online traffic these links may not resolve right away. If so, please be patient and try again.) If you or any friends and family of yours are in any of the affected areas, we wish them the best.
Here in Chicago the Japanese Consulate is providing communication aid for those concerned of love ones still in Japan. Their general number is (312) 280-0430 and (312) 280-0400. This is not the emergency number, only the general number. I've been waiting for the news to repeat the emergecy number, as of now they have yet to do so.
Below I am including a link for disaster preparedness in Japan. Although the early prep part won't really apply right now, it does have other information of what to do during the event to stay safe and who to contact. If you know someone in Japan who is confused of what to do or plan on going to Japan in the future, I would suggest taking a look.
To everyone, be safe, don't panic, and take care.

UPDATE:
They have repeated the number for the Chicago Japanese Consulate
(312) 280-0400 and (800) 776-3877
These phone lines may be busy so be prepared for a patient wait.

News:
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110311/ap_on_re_as/as_japan_earthquake
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ap_on_re_us/us_japan_earthquake_pacific

Video:
http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/11/video-of-the-earthquake-and-tsunami-in-japan/?no_interstitial#television-networks-show-images-of-destruction

Disaster Prep:
http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/acs/tacs-7111.html

Was watching random T.V. when me and my dad found a news reports of a new city being built in South Korea. Songdo, a new city being created from scratch on reclaimed land from the sea is being laced with technology that makes me think of the cities in Minority Report, To Aru Majutsu no Index, & To Aru Kagaku no Railgun.
Created with the latest eco-minded and advanced technology it promises to be a true city of the future with designers flocking from all across the world.
Click the links below for more information and explaination. Trust me, you'll want to watch them.

CNN News Report: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiHGYCguuDk
3D Tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVtvlQ4Jzbw&feature=related
Songdo -City Connected 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1x9qU-Sav8
Songdo -City Connected 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyPcme1HA_s&feature=related

Songdo City's Website: http://www.songdo.com/default.aspx

Recap & Prep

First off, we'd like to thank those who attended our second meeting. We think it went really well. Everyone seemed to have liked the food served, and no it wasn't free. (You wish.) Just a reminder that if anyone wishes to include their review to the website just foward it to our e-mail address and include if you want your real name or a sudo name to be published. If you don't supply one then the real name it is.
Second is the prep for the third meeting. Since March will be overly busy for the majority of our members we've decided to cancel the March meeting. So our third meting will be on April 23rd until further notice.
Our location for the meeting will be the same venue as this past Saturday, but if anyone has any suggestions of any other locations please let us know. We will review all options given, but we need options or nothing will change.
Also, we are taking a survey as to what kind of tournament to host during the next meeting in April. Do you want a Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament, a video game tournament, or something else? Send us your votes through Contact Us until the end of the month, Thursday March 31st. Include your name and any details you think may make things fun and interesting. We'll announce the results early April and the details there after. There will be prizes for high rankings, but everything must be fair so the tournament will not be of something obscure or DDR. (I'm just saying.)
Hope to see everyone in April and some new faces too.
Later!
